‘Why did she say that?’ Even Trump White House officials are ‘upset with Pam Bondi’

Attorney General Pam Bondi appears to be on increasingly thin ice — and not just with President Donald Trump’s MAGA base.

Semafor reported Tuesday that several unnamed officials within the Trump White House are now voicing their displeasure with how Bondi handled the recent uproar over the DOJ’s handling of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s case. Earlier this year, Bondi teased that the administration would be releasing previously unseen information pertaining to Epstein, telling Fox News that his client list was “sitting on my desk right now to review.”

However, Bondi recently attempted to walk those statements back, saying that she meant to say Epstein’s DOJ file — not his famed client list — was what was on her desk, and that there was no client list. During a Tuesday Cabinet meeting, reporters peppered Bondi with questions attempting to get the attorney general to give further clarification on the Epstein list, which prompted Trump to directly intervene.

“The list? There was no list ever on her desk, because there is no list. That was a sensationalized thing. Why did she say that? I don’t know,” a Trump administration official anonymously told Semafor. “She’s the one that’s been continuously overpromising for months.”

Mike Howell, who is a fellow at the pro-Trump Heritage Institute (the organization behind Project 2025), also piled on, telling the outlet that Bondi has had a “clunky” approach to the Epstein issue ever since she invited MAGA influencers to Washington to review binders full of Epstein files only for those influencers to blast her for not giving any new information. But one of Semafor’s sources said that it isn’t just far-right social media personalities who are annoyed with the attorney general.

“There are very serious people who are upset with Pam Bondi, and it has nothing at all to do with Epstein or chemtrails,” a source close to Trump said.

Both Bondi and senior-level DOJ officials like FBI Director Kash Patel and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino have acknowledged that Epstein died by suicide in prison, despite them both entertaining conspiracy theories surrounding his death in previous years. That acknowledgement also provoked anger from MAGA conservatives.
