‘Very curious’: Legal experts stunned by Maxwell’s sweetheart transfer after DOJ meeting

Legal experts are raising questions about the movement of Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell to a minimum security prison in Texas after she agreed to speak with Justice Department official Todd Blanche.

“Hmmm…after 9 hours with Trump law-lackey Todd Blanche, Ghislaine moves prisons? As they say, timing is everything. And it’s not because she’s going to hang out with Elizabeth Holmes,” questioned independent journalist Katie Phang.

Former US Ambassador Luis Moreno noted that the new “prison” is referred to as a “camp.”

“I’m sure that speaking with Trump’s personal attorney masquerading as the Deputy Attorney General had nothing to do with it,” he said on X.

Legal analyst Allison Gill wrote that the transfer documents she saw and a source she spoke to, putting Maxwell here, is “completely inappropriate for inmates who are in the early stages of serving their sentences.”

Another person told Gill, “This is such obvious corruption. I have never seen this before.”

“I can’t help but wonder whether this is part of a deal struck between Maxwell and Blanche in exchange for her testimony,” Gill added.

Speaking to MSNBC on Friday, legal analyst Lisa Rubin told host Chris Jansing that the move indeed “raises questions.”

She explained that security at a prison “camp” is always a lot lighter than at a federal maximum security facility.

“But that doesn’t mean that while she is in the federal correctional system, she wouldn’t welcome a less restrictive environment than the one she was in. I should point out that we understand that while she was in Florida, she was housed in what people would refer to as an honor dorm,” said Rubin. “So the least restrictive housing situation at that prison, still is being moved to a federal prison camp that is the least restrictive option within the federal correctional system.”

She added that there are only two facilities of that nature that are for women in the federal system.

“The whole thing is very curious,” she told Janzing. “And as you noted, while Ghislaine Maxwell is still engaged in this very public dance with the administration over whether she will get a pardon or commutation, it just raises more questions than anything else.”
