Just seven months into his second term, President Donald Trump is already losing faith among even his biggest constituencies, according to multiple new polls.
MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace highlighted an assortment of poll results during the Wednesday episode of her show “Deadline: White House,” which gauged both his overall approval as well as approval of his performance on certain issues. In an August Gallup poll of world leaders, Trump ranked near the bottom of the pack, with 57% of respondents finding him unfavorable as opposed to just 41% having a favorable view of him. Only Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had worse ratings than Trump. The top three most popular world leaders were Pope Leo XIV, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), respectively.
Wallace also pointed to a recent UMass-Amherst poll published Wednesday, noting that Trump was “underwater in every single issue area that Americans say they care about.” This includes 31% approval on inflation, 41% approval on immigration, 37% approval on jobs and 31% approval on tariffs. His overall approval rating was just 38%, with 58% of respondents disapproving of his performance in office.

She also noted that Trump’s support among men has “plunged,” dropping dramatically from 48% approval in April to just 39% by the end of July.
“Donald Trump and his administration are deeply unpopular with Americans,” Wallace said.
The drop in approval among men is particularly notable given that Trump’s performance among men has been cited as a key driver of his success in 2024. ABC News reported last November that 53% of young men between the ages of 18 and 29 broke for Trump, and that Trump won 55% of all men according to exit polls.
