Any thought that Donald Trump might have about issuing a pardon to convicted human sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell should be squashed immediately if he wants to have a chance of surviving the Jeffrey Epstein files firestorm, according to one lawyer.
During an appearance on MNBC’s “The Weekend,” conservative attorney George Conway, who is no fan of the president, had some advice for Trump as his DOJ works with Maxwell for possible testimony.
When it comes to offering a pardon to Maxwell after her conviction on child sex trafficking and felony conspiracy among other charges, Conway suggested Trump would be toying with fate.
Speaking with the host, he quizzed them about previous Trump pardons by asking, “What did Roger Stone and [Paul] Manafort get charged with and what were they found guilty of?”
“Oh gosh, I mean, that’s like a decade ago. I can’t even remember,” Jonathan Capehart admitted.
“You will always remember what Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of –– that’s the point,” Conway exclaimed. “It’s very simple. It’s like it’s worse than just this abstract. You know, this went on for years. This is what, a thousand victims? Two of the women who talked, they were girls when they were molested. Two of the victims who testified, or two of the four who testified at trial, were 14. 14 -year-old girls when Epstein first had sex with them.”
“Ghislaine Maxwell was right there telling them what to do, how to do it, taking their passports away so they couldn’t get off Epstein Island, okay?” he elaborated. “This is not going to work for Donald Trump, okay? He does this, he’s pushing a big bomb to blow himself up.”
