“I want arrest[s] not DOJ people making promises on Fox News.”
That is a growing train of thought within the MAGA base expressed by far-right conspiracy spreader Alex Jones as Donald Trump’s pre-election campaign based on “retribution” fails to bear fruit seven months into his return to the Oval Office.
According to a report from Politico’s Kyle Cheney, some of Trump’s biggest and most influential supporters are growing restless that the president’s Department of Justice has not been rounded up his enemies and jailed them.
As Cheney wrote, Trump’s MAGA supporters have been fed a steady diet of impending “criminal reprisals” to come dating back to the chants of “Lock her up” aimed at his 2016 presidential election opponent Hillary Clinton.
Clinton is still free and the president’s supporters are now facing the big “letdown” that their “revenge fantasies” are just that.
“This cycle — impetuous promises of criminal consequences followed by dejection when Trump’s enemies aren’t immediately arrested — has already happened with Jack Smith, with James Comey, even with Joe Biden and Barack Obama (and their top advisers),” Cheney wrote before adding that the failures so far are compounded by frustration over the Jeffrey Epstein files that the DOJ is still grappling with.
“A cascade of Trump’s influential backers have wondered aloud why the president and his Justice Department have not delivered the arrests and indictments they crave,” Politico is reporting while noting that the man with the biggest megaphone in the world, X owner Elon Musk, recently complained, “What’s the time? Oh look, it’s no-one-has-been-arrested-o’clock again.”
As evidence that Trump supporters are “seething over the lack of action,” Cheney wrote that pro-Trump podcaster Emerald Robinson recently complained, “Number of tweets that President Trump & his team have sent about arresting Russia Hoax traitors: 275,322. Number of arrests that President Trump & his team have made of Russia Hoax traitors: 0.”
