Trump created a ‘weapon of mass destruction’ to distract from his real problems: lawmaker

President Donald Trump appears to have created a new weapon to combat the unfolding Jeffrey Epstein drama, according to a new report.

Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) told Fox News host Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday” that the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, is acting like a “weapon of mass destruction” for the Trump administration. He cited her recent accusation that former President Barack Obama created the Russiagate fiasco to undermine Trump’s first administration, according to Politico.

He said Gabbard’s comments would be “sad if they weren’t so dangerous.”

“Let’s be really clear again about what’s happening here. This is being reinvigorated and concocted because Donald Trump doesn’t want to talk about the Epstein files,” Crow said.

Gabbard has been on the receiving end of a few of Trump’s tirades since she took the national intelligence job earlier this year. For instance, Trump claimed Gabbard was “wrong” about Iran’s nuclear capabilities when she told a Senate committee that the country was not close to building a nuclear warhead.

Trump also effectively sidelined Gabbard during negotiations to end the conflict between Israel and Iran in June.

To Crow, Gabbard’s statements about Russiagate show she is trying to get back in the president’s good graces. Gabbard has claimed that Russia did not interfere in the 2016 election to help Trump, even though all 17 of America’s intelligence agencies concluded that Russia did interfere in the election. She has also claimed that Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton planned a coup to undermine Trump.

“She’s trying to curry favor and get back into favor with Donald Trump and has concocted these theories to do so,” Crow said.
