Former staffers of Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, has been described as a “rude” boss who would “scream” at employees and even reduced one to tears–at least when she showed up at the office at all, according to the New York Post.
The newspaper interviewed three former Crockett staffers who spoke anonymously describing the firebrand Texas congresswoman.
“She thinks she’s her own best adviser, she knows best, and has this toxic staff environment,” one source told the Post. “She gets rid of press people because she’s like, ‘I do all of the press stuff.’”
Another former staffer said that Crockett reduced a legislative aide to tears by saying, “Do you really want to be here? And if not, you can leave!”
Staffers told the Post that Crockett is rarely in her office at the Longworth House Office Building, and focuses primarily on getting on TV and being an influencer. She does most of her work from a luxury apartment near Capitol Hill, the Post reported. The staffers also said she expects them to rent luxury vehicles for her travel.
The staffers said she would be present at committee hearings to generate viral social media clips, and also look for booking TV spots.
“She is never in the office and is very disengaged. She does her b— that goes viral, and then freaks out over the most random things,” a former aide said, according to the Post.
Another staffer said, “It is widely known that she’s not nice to staff and is just not a really dedicated member focused on constituents.”
The Post story follows a profile on Crockett by The Atlantic, that briefly describes her treatment of staff, saying she “scolded” a staffer for an unclear note. The Atlantic also reported that when a staffer brought her a bag with food, she responded, “This looks like crap.”
Crockett’s office did not immediately respond to an inquiry from The Daily Signal for this story.
