An infamous criminal defense attorney was ridiculed Wednesday after melting down at a farmer’s market in Martha’s Vineyard.
Alan Dershowitz, who defended President Donald Trump during his first impeachment hearing, was caught on video accusing a local vendor of discriminating against him. The vendor allegedly refused to serve Dershowitz, who talked about the episode on his show on Rumble, because of his support for Israel in the War in Gaza.
“I’m suing!” Dershowitz can be heard yelling.
The episode caused a stir on social media, with people who witnessed the event and lawyers chiming in.
“I met Allen Dechowitz today. I stopped him from harassing a vendor who wouldn’t serve him pierogi at the farmer’s market on Martha’s Vineyard,” reads a post from a local resident named Chris Holbert on Instagram. “I made a statement to the police, and they threatened to trespass him if he bothered any more vendors. Three refused him! The police took a witness state (sic) from me. No one else wanted to do it because he sues everyone here. Was talking about suing the vendor. Total scum!”
Lawyer Tracey Gallagher added in a post on X that Massachusetts law will be a “significant hurdle” for Dershowitz to overcome in his complaint.
“To succeed, you would need to argue that the refusal was based on a protected characteristic indirectly tied to his political beliefs (e.g., religion or national origin) or convince the court to interpret the law broadly, which is unlikely based on current precedent,” Gallagher said.
