‘There’s Kool-Aid on the side of your mouth!’: Panel erupts over Trump’s health

President Donald Trump’s memory became a contentious talking point on CNN’s “NewsNight with Abby Phillip” on Thursday.

Over the last several days, Trump’s memory has seemed to lapse at some important times. Trump seemed to forget that he appointed Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell in 2017. Instead, he claimed that former President Joe Biden appointed Powell. Trump also claimed that his uncle, Fred Trump, taught the Unabomber despite there being no evidence to support the claim.

When those memory lapses were brought up Thursday night, things got heated.

GOP strategist Scott Jennings compared Trump’s memory lapses to Biden’s memory issues. He also defended Trump’s gaffes by saying Trump has a doctor who is issuing public statements about his health, unlike Biden’s doctors.

“They are not the same!” writer Touré shouted as Jennings talked.

Republican radio host Ben Ferguson also claimed that Trump’s memory lapses could be due to his work ethic. Ferguson claimed that Trump works up to 20 hours per day, and included the time the president spends posting on social media in his calculation.

“You have Kool-Aid on the side of your mouth,” Touré told Ferguson.

Touré then questioned the Trump administration’s transparency regarding the president’s health. He pointed to the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, while Trump was on the campaign trail.

“This guy was supposedly shot in the ear, and we never heard from his doctors about that,” Touré claimed.
