‘Stop bragging’: White House account mocked for celebrating Trump’s ‘winning’ golf numbers

The official White House Instagram account faced heavy criticism Saturday after posting a congratulatory message about President Donald Trump’s “winning” golf performance.

The post featured a photo of Trump’s scorecard from the Men’s Senior Club Championship held at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club, showing the president in the top position.

One Instagram user reacted: “We’ve seen you play golf. You didn’t win s———.”

Another wrote: “Stop bragging about everything… This is a government page not your own private page. What does the world care about this stuff.”

The Daily Beast noted in a report Sunday that Trump’s golf ability has long drawn attention. Media reports suggest he has never lost in tournaments held at his own courses and has claimed numerous titles, some of which experts have questioned.

Still, many professional golfers who have observed his game or played alongside him describe him as a capable player. After watching the president play for an hour, Irish Golfer journalist Mark McGowan commented: “Trump’s got game. It’s not the prettiest swing, and his putting stroke resembles that of a man getting electrocuted on the follow through, but he gets through the ball amazingly well for a near 80‑year‑old.”

However, allegations of frequent cheating have followed Trump for years. The bestselling book Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump by Rick Reilly documents many within the golfing world who accuse Trump of dubious conduct. The book argues that his behavior reveals deeper personal traits.
