The internet buried a Nebraska Republican in mockery Monday night after his town hall descended into a chorus of jeers and boos.

Rep. Mike Flood was brutally booed at his town hall event in Lincoln, Nebraska, with the event turning contentious as soon as he began his remarks about President Donald Trump’s marquee spending legislation and cuts to food stamps, Medicaid, and health care research.

Audience-goers heckled and shouted “Liar!” and “Vote him out!” At one point, chants broke out of “Tax the rich!”

Flood’s event immediately generated mockery from internet observers.

“Mike Flood won his district by 20 points. Moments like this are why I always say that any seat is flippable,” wrote reporter and film critic Richard Whittaker‪ on Bluesky.

Former Biden administration official Neera Tanden wrote on X, “Mike Flood: We don’t have unlimited in the United States but we can ensure the wealthiest Americans have more tax cuts. This is why they are trying to rig the midterms. Because they know voters hate how they vote.”

A stunned Kevin M. Kruse, a historian, simply wrote on Bluesky, “‬Nebraska, everyone.”

Bluesky user Jon Cryer echoed the astonishment. “This is in Nebraska (!)”

Fellow Bluesky user ‪Matthew Beckman‬ ‪wrote, “Look, this is his ‘Sweatin’ like Nixon‘ moment, but it is also the moment the Dems could make billboards of this guy and really make him sweat. ‘Mike Flood: He voted to take your Medicaid away, then lied to you and said he didn’t.’

‪Rob Bon Vivant, former Senior corporate communications executive, cheered on Bluesky. “This. Is. F—ing. Awesome! Attaway, Nebraska! That’s the way to bring it!”
