‘Real anxiety’: Trump worried Ghislaine Maxwell ‘knows a great deal of information’

Political analyst Charlie Skyes said Monday President Donald Trump has failed to divert attention from the controversy surrounding his relationship with convicted child predator Jeffrey Epstein, despite “being a master of controlling the news cycle.”

During an appearance on MSNBC Monday, Sykes said Trump is “a master. of controlling the news cycle, but he hasn’t been able to distract from all of this.”

Sykes added that Trump worries about what Epstein’s associate Gillian Maxwell can say, adding, “she basically knows a great deal of information.”

Sykes said Trump has been “very reluctant to say anything about her.”

“He told Jonathan Swan that he wished her well, and now as he walks through all of the various other tactics, he’s hit upon the possibility that maybe he could get her to come forward, and provide some sort of an exoneration in return for commutation or a pardon.”

Sykes continued: “But this reeks of flop sweat. It reeks of real anxiety on his part, which is really extraordinary, because you walk through all the things that he’s gotten away with in the past. All the things that his voters have forgiven him for. Well, then what is in those files? What could she possibly have to say that he finds so embarrassing or so threatening?”
