‘Played him like a fiddle!’ Stephen Colbert taunts with deriding Trump impression

Late-night giant Stephen Colbert took a fresh dig at Donald Trump Monday, just days after having his show canceled in what is widely believed to be retribution for previous criticism.

The “Late Show” host mocked Trump’s dealings with the European Union while in Scotland over the weekend, claiming one leader knew exactly how to play the president.

“She played him like a fiddle!” Colbert laughed.

The comedian was referring to Trump’s meeting with the European Commission’s President Ursula von der Leyen, at which he came away with a deal that puts a 15% tariff on goods coming to the U.S. from the EU.

“I think you were saying this is probably the biggest deal ever reached in any capacity, trade or beyond trade,” Trump said to the EC leader as the deal was announced.

“It is,” she promised.

Colbert then launched into an impression of Trump accepting flattery.

“I believe you were saying it’s the biggest deal that only the smartest, most handsome man would have agreed to this deal,” he said.

“I think you were also saying that anyone who signed this deal would never ever have been on Jeffrey Epstein’s sex island, sex plane, or yet-to-be-revealed sex zeppelin.”

Colbert’s show was being cancelled in what many believe was retribution after he called parent company Paramount’s decision to pay a $16 million settlement to Trump over complaints about 60 Minutes was a “big fat bribe”.
