Pam Bondi’s MAGA ‘switcheroo’ has left her almost certain to be fired: DC insider

With the Jeffrey Epstein file controversy still dogging Donald Trump’s administration, there is a point where the president will have to throw someone overboard to calm his MAGA base.

That someone is likely to be Attorney General Pam Bondi, according to longtime DC insider Elanor Clift in a new column.

To date, since the files on the convicted pedophile became the central focus of far-right conservatives after the AG said in an interview that she had a list of Epstein clients sitting in her desk, which she later attempted to retract, Bondi has had to scramble to deal with almost daily revelations that have only exacerbated the White House crisis.

According to Clift, unlike Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, whose bungling at the Pentagon doesn’t implicate Trump, Bondi may not be the recipient of the patience the embattled defense chief has been given.

With that in mind, Clift claimed the impatient and short-tempered Trump may throw Bondi to the wolves to give himself some relief from the MAGA horde which feels it has been betrayed over transparency on Epstein.

Suggesting that Bondi “is in a particularly precarious position, as the official most directly in the line of fire over the Epstein debacle,” the journalist wrote the “MAGA base doesn’t want to turn on Trump, but they want someone to pay for the switcheroo they’ve been served.”

That, in turn, makes Bondi the “likely fall guy.”

Michael Sozan at the Center for American Politics agrees.

“It’s like ‘The Apprentice’ taking place in the White House with Cabinet secretaries and top officials knowing that in order to survive they better do anything they can to please him, even when it’s not in the best interest of the American people,” he suggested before adding, “She still sits at the apex of the decision-making. I don’t see how she successfully gets out of this.”
