‘No capacity for shame’: George Conway says Trump is capable of blowing himself up over Epstein

Attorney and frequent President Donald Trump critic George Conway says Trump will likely move forward with a pardon of a convicted sex trafficker, even if it blows up in his face.

Hours after Trump opened the door to granting clemency to notorious Jeffrey Epstein co-worker Ghislaine Maxwell, her attorney announced they were hoping for a president pardon. But Conway told MSNBC ‘The Weekend’ hosts Jonathan Capehart and Eugene Daniels that the ploy would hopelessly sludge the White House.

“What did Roger Stone and Paul Manafort get charged with and what were they found guilty of?” Conway asked the hosts.

“Oh, gosh. I mean, that’s like a decade ago,” said Capehart

“I can’t even remember,” said Daniels.

“That’s right! But you will always remember what Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of,” said Conway. “She’s way worse than just an abstract [conviction]. This went on for years with a thousand victims. … Two of the victims who testified … at trial were 14-year-old girls when Epstein first had sex with them, and Ghislaine Maxwell was right there, telling them what to do, how to do it, taking their passports away so they couldn’t get off Epstein island. This is not going to work for Donald Trump, okay?”

But Conway added this was not likely to stop Trump from giving it a shot if there was the slightest hope of Maxwell’s testimony distracting the public from Trump’s increasingly tangled relationship with the two convicted underage sex traffickers. He addedthat it does not matter if the mere attempt sinks the Trump administration.

If he does this, he’s pushing a big bomb to blow himself up. But, you know, he’s thoroughly capable of doing it,” said Conway. “He’s a moral maggot who has absolutely no capacity for shame or empathy or remorse. All he cares about is what he thinks will get him to the next day, or the next hour.”
