MSNBC panel pounces on ‘cryptic’ Bongino claim in the middle of Epstein firestorm

A long and mysterious post on social media platform X by FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino on Saturday raised eyebrows on MSNBC on Sunday morning.

At the start of MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” co-host Jonathan Capehart drew attention to the post that landed like a bombshell as the White House and the Department of Justice are both mired in cleaning up the Jeffrey Epstein files mess.

Bongino wrote, “During my tenure here as the Deputy Director of the FBI, I have repeatedly relayed to you that things are happening that might not be immediately visible, but they are happening. The Director and I are committed to stamping out public corruption and the political weaponization of both law enforcement and intelligence operations. It is a priority for us. But what I have learned in the course of our properly predicated and necessary investigations into these aforementioned matters, has shocked me down to my core.”

He then added, “We cannot run a Republic like this. I’ll never be the same after learning what I’ve learned. We are going to conduct these righteous and proper investigations by the book and in accordance with the law. We are going to get the answers WE ALL DESERVE. As with any investigation, I cannot predict where it will land, but I can promise you an honest and dignified effort at truth. Not ‘my truth,’ or ‘your truth,’ but THE TRUTH.”

With Bongino reportedly having butted heads with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the controversial Epstein files, Capehart commented that the post was “so cryptic that it is going to keep this story [alive].”

MSNBC contributor Maria Teresa Kumar observed, “It’s even better than that. It’s like, grab the popcorn, grab your blanket because I’m about to break something and it’s a little scary, but at the same time, it’s why I’m sitting in this seat.”

“And it’s interesting because it’s literally this Epstein issue is the issue that has basically created this fiction between him and Bondi,” she added. “And so his cryptic tweet is basically trying to say he’s like, there is more to come and that’s why I’m still here.”
