A spokesperson for Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) revealed that the congressman was being treated for a broken rib after a horse kicked him in the chest.
Will Garrett told the Washington Examiner that Burchett “hasn’t missed a beat” since the injury happened.
“While working on his farm over the weekend, Congressman Burchett was accidentally kicked by a horse. He suffered a broken rib and bruising but hasn’t missed a beat,” Garrett said.
Burchett was driven to the hospital by his wife and was discharged the same day. It was not immediately clear why his injuries were not disclosed earlier.
“There have been no changes to his schedule,” Garrett explained. “He spoke in Maury County last night and has a full slate of district events throughout the week.”
In 2022, Burchett’s daughter spent time in intensive care after a horse-related incident that included broken ribs and internal injuries.
