Rep. Lauren Boebert’s (R-CO) eldest son was cited with misdemeanor child abuse charges on Friday, July 11, according to a report.
Denver alt-weekly Westword reported on Saturday that Boebert’s son, Tyler, was charged with “criminal negligence where no death or injury occurred.” Boebert told the outlet that the incident resulted from “a miscommunication on monitoring my young grandson that recently led to him getting out of our house.”
The MAGA firebrand added that it was a “one-time incident” and that her family had met with Child Protective Services, according to the report.
This isn’t the first time that Tyler Boebert has been in trouble with law enforcement. In 2022, Tyler drove his father’s SUV into a creek bed. The incident caused a passenger to sustain multiple concussions, according to reports. He later pleaded guilty to a “defective vehicle for headlights” in a plea deal.
Tyler’s friend Noble D’Amato later accused his mother of trying to cover up the accident. D’Amato was charged with drug offenses after police discovered a marijuana grinder and Xanax pills at the crash site.
In January 2024, Tyler reported to police that his father, Jayson, was abusing him. The incident led to his father’s arrest.
A month later, Tyler was arrested and charged with multiple felonies for a series of car thefts and credit card fraud. He is currently on probation for those charges. It is unclear whether the incident on July 11 constitutes a violation of that probation, Westword reported.
