‘Late, great George Washington’: Trump compares himself to US founder in generosity brag

President Donald Trump compared himself to America’s founder George Washington Wednesday as he bragged that he’s giving up his salary for the nation.

Trump — who claims to be a billionaire — stated that he will donate his presidential paycheck to back to American institutions.

He’s also said that a $200 million White House ballroom that he’s ordered built — which has already covered the Rose Garden in concrete — is being paid for by him and other donors, and not by taxpayers

“I am proud to be the only President (with the possible exception of the Late, Great George Washington) to donate my Salary,” he wrote in the post.

“My first “Paycheck” went to the White House Historical Association, as we make much needed renovations to the beautiful “People’s House.” Great improvements and beautification is taking place at the White House, at levels not seen since its original creation. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump receives a salary of $400,000 per year, but claims he will donate almost all of that. Legally, he has to take compensation and, therefore, says he’ll take $1-a-year.

While Washington declined payment as Commander-in-Chief during the Revolutionary War, he was paid as president.
