‘Huge story’: Ex-Fox News host floored as Republican brutally booed at raucous town hall

A former Fox News host issued a warning to Republicans after seeing video of a GOP member’s raucous town hall.

Rep. Mike Flood (R-NE) held a town hall on Monday for his constituents and was met with loud boos and jeers as he talked about policy decisions like cutting Medicaid spending and other public programs. Videos of the town hall circulated on social media.

The footage shocked former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson after she saw it on CNN’s “OutFront” with host Erin Burnett. She called it a “huge story” as midterm elections draw near.

“This is a huge story, not only for Republicans, but also for Democrats,” Carlson said. “They’re pushing hard for this as well.”

Flood’s town hall is the latest in a series of public events held by Republicans that have become raucous.

For example, Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC) held a town hall in March where he was drowned out after he told the crowd that he supported President Donald Trump’s budget, according to NBC News.

Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) held a town hall that same month and was “heckled” as she praised Trump’s budget, Newsweek reported.

Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI) recently held a town hall where the crowd “often [drowned] him out with boos and yelling,” according to reporting from CNN.

Carlson also warned that Republicans likely won’t catch a break from their voters any time soon, unless the Trump administration makes good on its promise to release the Jeffrey Epstein files.

“Forget the grand jury, he could release all of the other information, millions of documents, tomorrow if he wanted to,” Carlson said.
