The Trump Administration struck a blow against the COVID-19 regime on Friday following a settlement with a conservative-leaning nonprofit.
The Office of Personnel Management issued a press release stating that it is directing every federal agency to delete records of employees’ vaccination status, including prior noncompliance with vaccine mandates or requests for exemptions.
From the press release:
Effective immediately, agencies are barred from using an individualʼs vaccine history in any employment-related decision, including hiring, promotion, discipline, or termination.
Unless an employee affirmatively opts out within 90 days, all vaccine-related information must be permanently removed from both physical and electronic personnel files.
“Things got out of hand during the pandemic, and federal workers were fired, punished, or sidelined for simply making a personal medical decision,” OPM Director
Scott Kupor said. “That should never have happened.”Thanks to President Trumpʼs leadership, weʼre making sure the excesses of that era do not have lingering effects on
federal workers.”
The Daily Caller, which first obtained a copy of the memo, notes this welcome news came after a nonprofit called Feds for Freedom announced Wednesday it settled with the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The settlement requires the OPM to direct federal agencies to clear employees’ records of their COVID-19 status.
Back on September 9, 2021, Joe Biden issued an executive order requiring all federal employees to be vaccinated. Those who refused faced being fired.
Biden also issued an executive order imposing the exact requirements and punishments for federal contractors.
Feds for Freedom filed a lawsuit back in December 2021 over the Biden order. The group obtained an injunction the following year, temporarily pausing the mandate.
Biden finally revoked the mandate in May 2023.
