Trafficker and predator Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, continues to claim she’s a scapegoat, and reports she’s defending President Donald Trump were met with skepticism.
NBC News justice correspondent Ken Dilanian said that an official in Trump’s administration claimed that Maxwell didn’t say anything that would have implicated Trump during her interview with his personal lawyer and DOJ official Todd Blanche.
The ABC News report cited “sources familiar with what Maxwell said,” that she claimed “Trump had never done anything in her presence that would have caused concern.”
The report prompted disbelief among those online, who see the report as either coming from Maxwell’s lawyer or someone from Trump’s government.
Maxwell maintains her innocence in her connections to Epstein. One Epstein accuser recalled Maxwell, not Epstein, being the first to take her panties off, said journalist Tara Palmeri on MSNBC. Annie Farmer testified at the trial that Maxwell fondled her breasts, NBC reported.
Folks online aren’t buying it.
“Sex trafficker and perjurer exonerates sex predator and fraudster,” commented Yale Law School Professor Scott Shapiro.
“I assume Maxwell also says there was no wrongdoing…by Maxwell. Very credible!” said conservative Bill Kristol.
“Call me crazy but it seems like the files would be more reliable for any claim than some words from a career liar and fraud, child rapist, and sex trafficker,” said Dr. Ryan Marino, M.D. “I do actually feel like I am losing my mind seeing people talk about Ghislaine Maxwell without the context that she raped children. She lured them in and raped them. For years. She assaulted them in addition to facilitating assault by others. So I will never care what she thinks counts as wrongdoing.”
“Granting anonymity to a single-sourced hearsay account that offers the reader nothing but the party line of the most powerful official in America,” complained writer and lawyer Luppe B. Luppen.
Former Chicago Metro Times editor Mark Jacob wrote, “Well, well, well. A child molester who was charged with perjury says a convicted felon and pathological liar did nothing wrong. That settles it … if you’re the most gullible person alive.”
“Again, this person is a liar,” Kristy Greenberg, former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said on MSNBC Tuesday. “And anything she said during that interview is going to be completely self-serving. Again, she just filed in court today something that said she’s a scapegoat and that, you know, the evidence against her was mischaracterized. So, nothing that she says there is going to do anything other than paint her as the victim, which has been the right-wing talking point, that Ghislaine Maxwell is somehow the victim and she’s not.”
