MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk argued that more Americans should be in prison to make housing more affordable in the country.

“Amazingly, crime is actually going down across the country,” Kirk acknowledged on his Wednesday podcast. “I was recently asked to give advice to a group of Republican lawmakers and donors… I said, honestly, we should be much tougher on crime. We need more people in jail. We need more arrests.”

“We do not have enough people in jail in this country,” he continued. “And that is shocking when people hear that. They say, oh, we have a prison industrial complex. We’re just a more violent country than other countries.”

Kirk said he hoped the Republican Party would become “a resolutely stronger party on crime.”

“We are not harsh enough on crime in this country,” he opined. “And this is not just about stopping criminals. If you enforce the law, housing will be cheaper because more of the country will be livable.”

“When you think about it, why is that housing prices go up so much?” Kirk asked. “Because you have a small group of law-abiding young people that want to live in certain zip codes. Why don’t you open up more zip codes?”

“The Republican Party needs to become harsher and harder on crime.”
