‘Number-one show!’ Trump touts ‘show biz’ accomplishments of his new DC prosecutor

President Donald Trump touted the “show business” accomplishments of the former Fox News host he intends to swear in as the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.

The Senate voted 50-45 along party lines to confirm conservative broadcaster and Trump loyalist Jeanine Pirro to lead the U.S. attorney’s office in the nation’s capital, and the president told reporters alongside a waiting Marine One helicopter that he could hardly wait to swear her in.

“I will happily swear in Jeanine Pirro, who is going to be fantastic at what she does, in D.C. over the next very short period of time,” Trump told reporters. “I think she’s going to be fantastic. Don’t forget, Jeanine Pirro was a great judge and a great prosecutor, and because she was so good, I was there – she was an amazing prosecutor and judge – and because she was so good, they drafted her into show business and she did fantastic.”

Pirro was elected as judge in Westchester County, New York, in 1990, and she was elected there three years later and then twice more as district attorney, but she lost a general election as state attorney general to Democrat Andrew Cuomo in 2006.

She had hosted a weekend Fox News program since 2011 focusing on justice matters, and Pirro was named as a co-defendant in a defamation case brought by Dominion Voting Systems against the network and some of hits broadcasters for promoting Trump’s 2020 election lies, but she was named a co-host of “The Five” in 2022 prior to Fox News settlinmg the case for $787.5 million.

“You know, ‘The Five’ was the number-one show, etc., etc.,” Trump said. “Jeanine Pirro was also really good at that. But her real love is exactly what she’s doing, and that’s what made her such a success in show business. So Jeanine Pirro is going to be amazing, and I’ll swear her in as soon as we can swear her in. We need her, she’s going to be amazing.”
