Thanks to the radical abortion industry, the pro-life movement consistently faces a seemingly unending slew of challenges—but nonetheless, it’s made hard-won progress this year.
Today, one of the greatest challenges the movement faces is the growing prevalence of the abortion pill. This crisis ends the lives of thousands of innocent unborn children each year and puts the health and safety of women at risk.
But while much work remains to protect women and unborn children, victories at both the federal and state levels demonstrate real momentum in the pro-life movement. Guided by strong state leadership and the life-affirming policies of the Trump administration, the movement continues to uphold the fundamental truth that every human life—born and unborn—deserves dignity and protection.
While the fight must continue until abortion becomes unthinkable, it’s equally important to recognize the small but vital victories over the radical pro-choice agenda. Celebrating these wins doesn’t just honor the ground gained—it strengthens the resolve to keep moving forward.
Here are just a few of the recent actions taken by President Donald Trump and pro-life state leaders to protect life:
- Executive Order to Disentangle Taxpayers from Abortion Funding: On Jan. 24, 2025, Trump issued an executive order stating that federal taxpayer dollars should no longer be used to fund or promote elective abortions. The order also reversed two of President Biden’s previous executive actions that politicized enforcement of abortion laws and expanded abortion access, including by providing Medicaid coverage for abortion-related travel.
- One-Year Defunding of Planned Parenthood: Through the recent reconciliation package, Planned Parenthood lost access to federal funds for one year—a clear, if temporary, victory in reducing taxpayer support for the nation’s largest abortion provider. However, this provision currently faces litigation, with activist judges trying to help Planned Parenthood keep the government gravy train going.
- Renewed U.S. Membership in the Geneva Consensus Declaration: On Jan. 24, 2025, the U.S. renewed its membership in this international coalition of over 35 countries committed to improving women’s health, preserving human life, and strengthening families. This was a major reversal of Biden’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the declaration in 2021.
- West Virginia Abortion Pill Ruling: On July 15, the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals released a decision supporting West Virginia’s ban on the abortion drug mifepristone. This ruling reaffirms the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs that states can make their own rules about abortion. In the case before the circuit court, GenBioPro, the company that makes the generic abortion pill, argued that federal FDA approval should overrule West Virginia’s anti-mifepristone law. But the court disagreed, noting that there’s a “regulatory floor, not a ceiling.” In other words, states can’t weaken federal safety measures, but they can strengthen them.
These victories are vital in defending the dignity of life and the family. They confront the radical and abhorrent practices of the abortion industry, all of which reject the fundamental truth that life begins at conception and deserves protection at every stage.
The road ahead remains long, especially as the abortion pill industry threatens to undermine pro-life laws in many states. But these victories prove that with persistent action, we can chip away at—and ultimately dismantle—the tragic practice of abortion to build a culture that truly respects life.
With each victory, abortion moves closer to becoming unthinkable, and every life gains a little more of the protection it intrinsically deserves.
